Jesus said to them: Come and see!

Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them,
“What are you looking for?”

Come and See!
February’s Come-and-See was absolutely wonderful.  We had some wonderful participants, met new faces, made new friends, prayed, played, ate, toured, connected, slept, listened, discerned…  The Sisters are still talking about it!  …and I miss each one of you already!  I’m just happy that I can put some faces to your names when I pray for you each day!  I hope you are now prayerfully ‘unpacking’ all the information you received this past weekend!  Know that I’m just a phone call or email away if you need to chat about anything!

Come and See This Weekend

Welcome!
Come and See
This Weekend

I’m doing final touches in preparation for this weekend’s Come and See!  The Sisters and I are excited and looking forward to meeting those of you who will be with us.  We have kept each one of you in our prayers!

This is an exciting ‘new time’ in the history of religious life!  There is a growing desire among many Catholic adults to belong to something greater than themselves, building relationships within the context of a Catholic community; to know God at a deeper level through prayer; to open minds and hearts through study; and to serve where the need is great.

The Four Charisms of Dominican Life:  Community, Prayer, Study and Service offer the perfect platform to fill this hunger.  The Women who will be with us for the Come and See Weekend will have an opportunity to experience the Dominican charism around:
· Community ~   We come together to give witness to Gospel values.  In community, we are continually shaped, supported, and challenged.
· Prayer ~ It is in our prayer that we celebrate the Word of God and allow ourselves to be formed and sent forth by that Word.
· Study ~ The Dominican emphasis on study opens our hearts and minds more fully to discover how God is revealed in the created world and in each other.
· Ministry ~ Our service is as diverse and creative as are the gifts and talents of our members.  New ventures as well as long-standing commitments give witness to a faithful ingenuity and creativity.

Here’s a preview of some of the things that are waiting for you:

I'm looking forward to seeing some of you this weekend!
Blessings!

World Day for Consecrated Life

World Day for Consecrated Life

In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted World Day for Consecrated LifeFor 20 years the Church has marked February 2 as a day of prayer for women and men who have consecrated their lives through the profession of vows and as a day to pray for vocations to the consecrated life!  This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas Day.  Candles are blessed on this day symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world.  This day is also an invitation for all, not just those who live the consecrated life, to receive the light of Christ and to become the light of Christ in the world!

The celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life is transferred to the following Sunday in order to highlight the gift of consecrated persons for the whole Church.

This week is also National Catholic Schools Week.  Some of our Sisters at Marywood have been invited to local schools in the area – especially to some of the schools where our Sisters taught for many years.  A group of Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids met with the students of Holy Spirit School this morning also to celebrate Catholic Schools Week!
